Let’s explore some of the various graphic design software that graphic designers use to create graphic designs.
Adobe Photoshop: Photoshop is the most common tool that graphic designers use for graphic design, creating web project elements, and photo editing. It enables you to manipulate images in creative ways, and to re-create images or videos.
Adobe Illustrator: This software enables you to create vector graphics, such as illustrations, logos, and banners.
Corel Draw Graphic Suite: This software enables you to create layouts and vector designs. It is less expensive than Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Adobe InDesign: Adobe InDesign is a page layout software that makes it easy to combine text and graphics on one page.
Inkscape: Inkscape is free software for creating vector graphics.
Corel PaintShop Pro: Corel PaintShop Pro is a photo-editing software for editing raster (normal images) and vector (shapes represented by equations) images in Windows. Jasc Software originally developed the software and later sold it to Corel.
Gimp: Gimp is free software that artists can use for image authoring and composition, image format conversion, photo retouching, and simple painting.
Pixlr: Pixlr is a free online image editor with all the features of priced software. However, it doesn’t work on Internet Explorer (IE) and many other browsers.
Paint.net: Paint.net is free photo-editing software meant for Windows. It gives you the option to work on your image in layers. It also has an active online community for discussions.
Pixelmator: Pixelmator is priced photo-editing software available for OS X. Pixelmator Team Ltd. developed the software based on open source and OS X technologies.
