Introduction to Photoshop
Photoshop is an image creation, graphic design, and photo editing software developed by Adobe, created in 1987 by Thomas and John Knoll.
Designed for creating and editing raster-based artwork and photographs, with applications in banner ads, graphics for videos, and print.
Adobe Photoshop Workspace
Comprised of command menus, tools, and panels for editing images.
Works primarily with raster images (bitmapped) and also supports vector graphics.
Key Components of the Interface
Main Menu: Dropdown menus (File, Edit, Image, Layer, etc.) for accessing commands.
Options Bar: Displays options and settings specific to the selected tool.
Tools Panel: Houses tools for editing images, with hidden tools accessed by clicking and holding on icons.
Panels Area: Located in the lower right, used for adjusting layers, colors, and properties. Accessible through the Window menu.
Tool Classification Overview
Tools are organized into groups, shown as singular icons with smaller icons behind them indicated by a triangle.
Familiarize with the different tool categories such as Selection tools, Crop and Slice tools, Measuring tools, Retouching tools, Painting tools, and Drawing tools.
