McCarthy’s fear

McCarthy was afraid of communism being spread within the US government. This resulted in the second red scare, persecuting left wing individuals and launching a campaign of fear spreading around the idea of Soviet influence / espionage among the US citizens / government. McCarthy was worried about communism domestically, Dulles was globally.

Castro longed to make Cuba a player in trades and negotiations. Also, Castro propagated more against the US. Castro used the embargo against the US, implying that US was ready to go to war to prevent Cuba from operating as they wish.

  For oil interests. The angolo-persian oil company was prominent between the two countries (heavily in favor of British). Mosaddeq wanted to nationalize it to make ownership equal.

The USSR and Cuba were both opposition to the US. When Cuba requested, Russia came to the aid of fellow Communist regime Cuba in defense of their enemy, the US. They both collaborated for economical and military benefits as well.

How did the Bay of Pigs fail?
