Silius sive fatali insania

Silius, whether from fateful folly

An ipsa pericula remedium imminentium periculorum ratus

Or thinking that the dangers themselves were a cure for the imminent dangers

Abrumpi dissimulationem urgebat

Was urging for the concealment to be cast aside

Quippe non exspectandum

[He said that] certainly they should not wait

Dum princeps senesceret

For the emperor to grow old

Se caelibem, orbum

[He said that] he was single, childless

Nuptiis et adoptando Britannico paratum

Ready for marriage and for adopting Britannicus

Eandem Messalinae potentiam mansuram esse

For Messalina, the same power would remain

Addita securitate

With added security

Si praevenirent Claudium

If they forestalled Claudius

Qui insidiis incautus sed ad iram celer esset

Who was unsuspicious of plots but quick to anger

Messalina non amore in maritum

Messalina - not from love for her husband
