Resource
A resource is anything that can be used to satisfy a need or a want.
Renewable
Is any resource that can be used over and over again if managed sustainably.
Non- renewable
Found in fixed amounts and are being used faster than they can be replenished.
Contiouous
Environmental resources are those whose availability is unaffected by their use of humans
Water cycle
The water cycle is the name we give to describe water and the way it moves thought the Earth.
Accumulation
The first stage of the water cycle where water collects together in the form of rivers, oceans and lakes.
Evaporation
the second stage of the water cycle where the heat from the sun transforms water into water vapor.
Condensation
The third stage of the water cycle where water vapor cools and forms back into a liquid.
Precipitation
The final stage of the water cycle where water falls from the sky in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow.
Fresh water
Is any naturally occurring water containing low concentrations of dissolved salts and other total dissolved solids. E.G. rivers, streams, groundwater, glaciers, lakes and ponds.
Water scarcity
Water scarcity occurs when the demand for water exceeds the amount available.
Desalination
The process of removing dissolved salt from ocean and/or brackish water. Also called ‘reverse osmosis’.
