Transferred Epithet

A figure of speech which an epithet or adjective grammtically qualifies a noun other than the person or thing it is actually describing (ie poet transfers his melancholic mood to the darkness of the night)

Refrain

A phrase or group of verses repeat at interveals throughout the poem (patter of the rain is repeated in rain on the roof)

Onomatopoeia

USing a word which suggests the meaning by its sound

Repittion of intial consonant sounds in the same time, (hover and humid in rain on the roog)
