what does the cognitive behavioral model focus on?
the behaviors people display and thoughts they have, along with the interplay between behaviors and thoughts, and how the two effect each other, along with the impact behavior-cognition interplay often has on feelings and emotions.
what is conditioning
simple forms of learning, in order to better undertsnmd how behaviors are acquired.
exposure therapy:
a behavior-focused intervention in which fearful people are repeatedly exposed to the objects or siuations they drea
behavioral therapies:
classical conditioning, modeling, operant conditing
classical conditioning:
people learn to respond to one stimulus the way the respond to another (white lab coat and needles
modeling:
individuals learn responses simply by observing other individuals and then repeating their behaviors (dad and fear of dogs),
operant conditioning:
individuals learn to behave in certian ways as a result of experiencing rewards or punishments for behaviors
Cognitive Therapies:
they use several stratgies to help people with psychological disorders adopt new, more functional ways of thinking. Identify and challenge negative thoughts, biased interpretations, and errors in logic that dominate their thinking and contriubute to their disorder.
