High Serve
Defensive serve to push the opponent to the back of the court
Low Serve
Forces the opponent to lift the shuttle, allowing an attack opportunity
Drive Serve
Fast Serve along the middle service line to the opponent’s backhand side
Flick Serve
A deceptive, high but fast serve, forcing the opponent into an awkward position
Clear Shot
Trajectory: High, towards the back court
Purpose: Defensive - gives time to reposition
Drop Shot
Trajectory: Looping, close to the net
Purpose: Attacking - forces opponent forward
Drive Shot
Trajectory: Flat, towards to body
Purpose: Defensive - a fast counteratteck
Smash
Trajectory: Close to the net
Purpose: Fast and powerful, reducing opponent’s reaction time
Net Lift
Trajectory: High, towards the back court
Purpos: Defensive - preventing opponent from attacking at the net
Net Kill
Trajectory: Flat and downward
Purpose: Ends a rally when opponent plays a weak ner shot
Lob
Purpose: Send the shuttlecock high to the opponent’s back court
Forehand Grip
Used for shots on the forehand side
Hold the racket like a handshake with the head at 90 degress to the floor
Backhand Grip
Used for non-dominant side shots
Thumb is placed on the flat side of the grip for better leverage
Bevel Grip
Used for shot behind the player to improve control
Thumb is placed on the beveled corner instead of the flat side
Panhandle Grip
Used for quick push and kill shots at the net
Hold the racket like a frying pan with the thumb placed accordingly
