Legalism

An attempt to earn salvation by keeping God's law.

Why is legalism considered a false doctrine?

Because no person can earn salvation through their own deeds.

John 14:15

If you love me, you will obey what I command.

Why should Christians be obedient rather than legalistic?

Because true love for oneself comes from obeying the commands of God.
