This is the first of the three exiling of Judah by the Babylonians. This is also the date from which Jeremiah's prophecy of 70 years of exile is taken. (2 Chronicles 36:20-22) Daniel is taken to Babylon at this time. (Daniel 1:1)

21
New cards
In 1973, the congregation moved to a new building and was renamed the Crossroads Church of Christ. In 1967, Chuck Lucas was chosen to initiate Campus Advance. Concepts such as small group evangelism ("Soul Talks"), "counting the cost" at baptism (total commitment), and a shepherding "buddy system" called "prayer partners" were innovations. The campus ministers and "women's counselors" raised-up there were sent into existing Mainline Churches of Christ, thus forming the "Crossroads Movement" also called the "Total Commitment Movement.

1979
The Spirit sends the McKeans to the Lexington Church of Christ, which in time is renamed the Boston Church of Christ. Their first gathering with the Lexington Church of Christ on Friday, June 1, 1979 was "the 30 would-be-disciples in the Gempel's living room." The young men and women raised-up in this congregation to plant churches around the world become known as the Boston Movement. The major difference between "Crossroad congregations" and "Boston churches" was that in the Boston churches every member through the pulpit and discipling was called to "total commitment," while most of the adults in Crossroad churches remained lukewarm.
28
New cards
1985
Chuck Lucas resigns from the ministry leaving the Crossroads Campus Ministries without any direction. By this year, Boston had planted Chicago, London, New York City and Toronto.
29
New cards
1985-88
Over 2,000 "remnant" young people move to Boston and her plantings from the Crossroads Campus Ministries.
30
New cards
1987-90
About half of the "Crossroads Campus Ministry Churches" undergo "reconstruction" by the Boston Movement; the other half oppose the Boston Church's efforts. Reconstruction is simply when every member of a congregation is called to be a disciple through individual "life talks" where the new evangelist or women's ministry leader "counts the cost" of discipleship with each potential member. Usually about half answer the call making the reconstructed congregations to be exactly the same "totally committed churches" as the Boston plantings. Very sadly in 1987, the Crossroads Church of Christ "disfellowshipped" the Boston Movement Churches because of the reconstructions, which they considered "unbiblical."
31
New cards
1988
World Sector Leaders are selected formally forming a Central Leadership for the Boston Movement. The Mainline Churches of Christ "disfellowshipped" the Boston Movement because of this new central government

The name "International Churches of Christ" is adopted by all Boston Movement Churches.

Theology. In fact, signaling this change in doctrine, most ICOC churches change their name to Church of Christ. For example: The "Denver International Church of Christ" changes its name to become the "Denver Church of Christ.
39

2003
In February, the "Kreite Letter" is the spark that decimates the ICOC. In April, the McKeans are formally fired for their convictions. In July, the Spirit carries them to Portland, Oregon to a congregation whose membership had fallen from 300 to 26.
40
New cards
2005
The Portland Church experiences a great revival unseen anywhere else in the world in what is left of the ICOC. The Portland ICOC becomes the fastest growing congregation in what is left of the ICOC. Scores of "remnant disciples" seeking spiritual revival flock to Portland from 26 different states. At the second Portland World Missions Jubilee in August, McKean "calls out the remnant." In September, a letter signed by 65 Evangelists and Elders shows the tremendous opposition and persecution in response to McKean's call. For the honor of God, the Portland ICOC Leadership pens "Our Concern for All The Churches." Then, a second ungodly letter signed by 85 Evangelists and Elders "disfellowships" the McKeans and all the disciples with them.
41
New cards
2006
With opposition to the McKeans helping Hilo, Hawaii under Kyle & Joan Bartholomew's leadership, in October - seeing "no remedy" - the brothers in Portland formally announce that God has initiated a new movement: the Portland Movement or more well known as the SoldOut Discipling Movement. The name of "International Christian Church" is adopted by all SoldOut Movement congregations

Was solomon the only author of proverbs?
No For instance, Proverbs 22:17 and Proverbs 24:23 refer to the "sayings of the wise." Also, Proverbs 30 is attributed to Agur son of Jakeh and 31:1-9 to King Lemuel. Interestingly, neither of whom is mentioned elsewhere in the Scriptures.
50
New cards
What scriptures show Solomon was an author of proverbs?
The headings in 10:1 and 25:1 again include his name, though 25:1 states that these proverbs were "copied by the men of Hezekiah king of Judah." This most likely indicates that a group of wise men or scribes compiled these proverbs as editors and added Chapters 25-29 to the earlier collections. Solomon's ability to produce proverbs is quantified in 1 Kings 4:32 where 3,000 proverbs are attributed to him. Coupled with Scriptures about Solomon's unparalleled wisdom from above (1Kings 4:29-31, 34), we can conclude that he was the source of most of the Book of Proverbs.

Isaiah
Isaiah son of Amoz is considered "the greatest of the writing prophets." His name literally means "The Lord saves." He prophesied alongside Amos, Hosea and Micah. The Spirit initiated Isaiah's ministry in 740 BC, the year King Uzziah died. (Isaiah 6:1) According to the Jewish tradition (The Ascension of Isaiah), during the "reign of terror" of Manasseh, Isaiah was sawed in half. (Hebrews 11:37) Isaiah was married and had at least two sons, Shear-Jashub (Isaiah 7:3) and Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz. (Isaiah 8:3) He lived in Jerusalem, and had his greatest influence under King Hezekiah. (Isaiah 37) Isaiah is also credited with writing a history of the reign of King Uzziah. (2 Chronicles 26:22)

Jeremiah
Jeremiah was a son of the priest - Hilkiah. He was called as a very young man to be a "prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:4-5) He began prophesying in Judah midway through the reign of Josiah (640-609 BC) and continued throughout the reigns of the last four kings of Judah: Jehoahaz (609), Jehoiakim (609-598), Jehoiachin (598-597) and Zedekiah (597-586). After the fall of Jerusalem, Jeremiah even prophesied in Egypt. He was a major contributor to Josiah's restoration movement so when Josiah is killed in an untimely death, Jeremiah writes "the Laments" from which comes the Book of Lamentation. (2 Chronicles 35:25) Jeremiah dies in Egypt most likely heartbroken though still preaching after the fall of Jerusalem. (Jeremiah 43:8)
