Post–Bill of Rights Amendments (1795–1870)
11th–15th Amendments
11th Amendment
States are protected from being sued in federal court by citizens of another state or country.
12th Amendment
Changed how the President and Vice President are elected (they run on the same “ticket”).
13th Amendment
Abolished slavery.
14th Amendment
Citizenship rights: anyone born in the U.S. is a citizen; guarantees equal protection under the law.
15th Amendment
Gave Black men the right to vote (no denial based on race).

Congress can collect income taxes.
18th Amendment
Prohibition — banned the making, selling, or transporting of alcohol.

Gave women the right to vote.

Repealed Prohibition (made alcohol legal again).
22nd Amendment
Presidents can serve only 2 terms (or 10 years max).
23rd Amendment
Washington, D.C. gets 3 electoral votes for President.

Presidential succession and disability (VP takes over if President dies or cannot serve).
26th Amendment
Lowered the voting age to 18.
27th Amendment
Congress cannot give itself an immediate pay raise (changes take effect next term).
