What 5 specific freedoms are protected by the First Amendment?
Religion
Speech
Press
Assembly (peacefully)
Petition the government for a redress of grievances
Why do you think sedition is not always protected by the 1st Amendment?
I think this is because the 1st amendment is always talking about the freedoms of speech, press, or religion, while sedition is talking about how it wants people to go against the government.
Should slander be protected by the 1st amendment?
I think that it shouldn't be because you never know someone’s true words if it is not written down, so with slander, it could be false spoken statements.
How might a charge of slander be misused?
It could be misused when someone tries to silence criticism or free speech.
What does Amendment Two allow people to do?
It allows people to keep and bear arms, which means people are allowed to keep any weapons with them.
For what purpose are they allowed to do this?
They are allowed to do this if they have a background check and fill out an application, and wait up to 90 days for authorization.
Is Congress allowed to infringe upon this right in any way?
Yes, if they do a background check and find something that you did that was a high crime, or if they see that you are mentally unstable
What might be the government’s reason for these restrictions?
If someone is mentally unstable, they can not hold a gun on them at all time
What can’t Congress do according to Amendment Three? Are there any exceptions?
They are not allowed to force citizenship on house soldiers in their homes during peacetime without their consent, so this is regarding the exceptions that they have.
What does this Amendment 4 protect people against?
It protects you against unreasonable searches and seizures.
When can a private residence be legally searched?
This is able to happen when the police have a search warrant, consent, and a signature from the judge.
What must be specified in order for the search to take place?
The place to be searched, probable cause, and the items that have to be seized.
