Histogram
A bar chart that shows the distribution of continuous, numerical data by grouping values into ranges called bins and plotting their frequencies as bars.
Left Skewed Histogram
Has a tail to the left.
Right Skewed Histogram
Has a tail to the right.
Modality
Where there is the highest concentration of observations.
Unimodal Histogram
Has one peak where there is a concentration of observations.
Bimodal Histogram
Has two peaks where there is a concentration of observations.
Multimodal Histogram
Has more than two peaks where there is concentration of observations.
Mean/Average
A way to measure the center of the distribution.
Variance
The “average” squared distance from the mean.
Standard Deviation
Roughly how far away the typical observation is from the mean and is the square root of the variance.
