What does localisation of function mean ?
the theory that certain functions (e.g language, memory etc.) have certain locations or areas within the brain
What is the functions of the motor area ?
controls deliberate movement, using motor neurons to send signal to our muscles
What happens if the motor area is damaged ?
it will affect the right side of the body, struggle with fine or complex movement
What is the function of the somatosensory area ?
responsible for touch, the more sensitive part of the body is - the larger the amount of the somatosensory cortex it will involve

less ability to feel pain and temperature
What is the function of the visual area ?
each eye sends visual information to the visual areas on each side of the brain

may cause blindness in the right visual field of both eyes

another area of the temporal lobe, the auditory cortex, serves the same job for hearing, the auditory cortex receives information from the ears

this area is responsible for speech production

it is thought to be involved in language processing/ comprehension
