define restraint

physical, chemical (ex. drugs/sedatives) or psychological (ex. positive/negative reinforcement) methods of limiting and controlling animal movement

why is animal restraint necessary?

1) safety of the animal

2) maximize safety of handler

3) treatment/medical procedure → x-rays, vaccines, dental work, check ups

4) minimize animal stress

• other arm around the back and under abdomen
