Primary Sources
Original records from the past recorded by people who were involved in or witnessed the event.
Bias
Inclination or prejudice for or against one person or group, especially in a way considered to be unfair.
Examples of Primary Sources
Personal records, printed media, visual materials, artefacts, diaries, photographs, maps.
Secondary Sources
Written information created by historians or others after an event has taken place.
Reliability of Secondary Sources
Can represent a fair account including multiple viewpoints but cannot reflect contemporary thoughts or feelings.
Textbook
A written resource providing comprehensive coverage of a subject, often used in education.
Biography
A written account of another person's life.
Autobiography
An account of a person's life written by that person.
Political Cartoon
A cartoon that comments on political events or situations.
Oral History
Stories and accounts passed down verbally from generation to generation.
