immigrants were willing to work in bad conditions, language difficulties impeded recruitment, farmers didnt wanna rely on unions, african americans excluded due to racism

Britain/france owe US money, looked to germany to borrow money, french troops invade germany, american sends charles dawe to negotiate loans to germany and established a new currency for them

Large amount of african americans move to north (big cities) and it sparked urban riots

New black cultural identity characterization by literature music and art
