What is Latitude?
Latitude is the distance north or south of the Equator; 0° latitude is the Equator.
What is Longitude?
Longitude measures east–west distance from the Prime Meridian; 0° longitude is the Prime Meridian.
What is the Equator?
The zero-degree latitude line circling the middle of the Earth, dividing the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
What is the Prime Meridian?
The zero-degree longitude line that passes through Greenwich, England, dividing the Eastern and Western Hemispheres.
What does Location mean in geography?
The position of a place on the Earth's surface.
What does Place mean in geography?
The physical and human characteristics that define a location.
What is a Region in geography?
An area defined by common features, such as physical, cultural, or economic traits.
What is Movement in geography?
The movement of people, goods, and ideas between places.
What is Human-environment interaction?
How humans adapt to, modify, and depend on their environment.
What does Circa (c.) mean?
Approximately; used when the exact date is unknown.
What do BC and BCE stand for?
BC means Before Christ; BCE means Before Common Era.
What do AD and CE stand for?
AD means Anno Domini; CE means Common Era.
What is a Century?
A 100-year period; centuries are named by the first digits and rounding up.
What is Prehistory?
The period before written or recorded history.
What is Carbon dating?
A method of determining the age of organic material by measuring Carbon-14.
What is a Hominid?
A member of the biological family Hominidae, including humans and their ancestors.
What is an Artifact?
An object made or used by humans, studied to understand past cultures.
