genotype
The genetic makeup of an individual, specifically the alleles for a given trait.
phenotype
The observable physical characteristics of an individual resulting from the alleles.
homozygous
When an individual has two identical alleles for a particular trait, either dominant or recessive.

When an individual has two different alleles for a particular trait, one dominant and one recessive.
autosomal inheritance
shows what trait will be passed down, one allele from each parent
autosumal dominant
An inheritance pattern where a dominant allele from one parent can express the trait in the offspring, even if the other allele is recessive.
autosomal recessive
An inheritance pattern where a trait is expressed when both alleles are recessive.
