It introduced a fine of a shilling a week for not attending church on Sundays or holy days
What was the Act to Retain the Queen’s Subjects?
This was introduced later in the Queen’s reign and increased the fine to £20 (equivalent to around £2000 today) to Catholics who still refused to attend Protestant services. It also gave a death penalty to those whol persuaded another to become a Catholic (from previously being Protestant)

The Pope excommunicated Elizabeth in 1570, which meant that she was no longer able to participate in the services of the church in Rome, and encouraged plots against her
