Qualitative Data
Data that describes qualities or characteristics and cannot be measured with numbers.
Quantitative Data
Data that represents a measured quantity and can be expressed numerically.
Independent Variable
The variable that is intentionally changed or manipulated in an experiment.
Dependent Variable
The variable that is measured or observed in response to changes in the independent variable.
Controlled Variables
Factors that are kept constant throughout an experiment to ensure that the test is fair.
Aim of the Experiment
The purpose of the experiment, often expressed as a statement on what is to be determined or investigated.
Hypothesis
A testable statement predicting the outcome of an experiment based on observations.
Control Apparatus
A setup in an experiment that serves as a reference to compare against the experimental groups.
Recording Results
The process of collecting and presenting data from an experiment, typically using tables, graphs, and charts.
Improving Experimental Design
A process involving replicates, repeating experiments, and expanding ranges of independent variables to enhance reliability.
Line Graph
A type of graph that displays information as a series of data points called 'markers' connected by straight line segments.
Bar Graph
A graphical representation of categorical data using bars of varying lengths.
Histogram
A graphical representation of the distribution of numerical data by showing the number of data points that fall within specified ranges (bins).
