Hiking
Long hours of walking on trails, easy and does not require climbing skills and equipment.
Backpacking
An outdoor recreation where gear is carried in a backpack, ranging from one night to weeks or months.
Trekking
Similar to hiking but generally lasts for two days or more and may involve tougher terrains.
Mountaineering
The sport of mountain climbing that requires high technical skills and fitness level.
Altitude sickness
Negative health effects of high altitude, caused by rapid exposure to low amounts of oxygen.
Rock-craft
Involves routes over rocky slopes and dealing with avalanches; suited for amateur climbers.
Snow-Craft
Involves routes with glaciers and the understanding of snow and ice conditions; much more dangerous.
Mixed Climbing
Combines rocky and icy routes, integrating skills from both rock-craft and snow-craft.

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)
The mildest form of altitude sickness due to low oxygen levels at high elevation.
