Informed consent
a competent person gives voluntary permission for a medical procedure after being informed of the risks.It ensures that patients understand the implications and alternatives of the treatment.
Expressed consent
permission is given by the patient verbally or in writing, clearly indicating their agreement to a specific treatment or procedure after being informed of its nature and potential risks.
Implied consent
The patients’ actions permit the procedure without verbal or written consent (most used in phlebotomy)
Parental consent for minors
A parent or legal guardian must permit procedures administered to underage patients.
HIV testing consent
special permission is needed to administer a test that detects HIV
Refusal of care
Patients have the right to refuse any care at any point of treatment along as they are informed of the consequences

Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a federal agency responsible got overseeing the occupational safety and health act.
The Complaint Inspection
Inspection after an employee file a formal complaint with OSHA (most common)
The Fatality or Accident Inspection
An investigation conducted by OSHA following a notice from the employer of a workplace fatality or 3 or more employee hospitalizations
The Programmed Inspection
inspection is conducted on a randomly chosen workplace determined to be engaged in particularity hazardous work types
The Imminent Danger Inspection
inspection occurs when OSHA receives a report that a condition of imminent danger exists in a workplace (least common)

the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act was enacted to protect healthcare workers from needlestick injuries by requiring the use of safer medical devices and implementation of safety protocols.
If exposed to blood via needle stick first
immediately wash the area with soap and water and flow that with a non-abrasive anti-bacterial soap
If blood splashes in eyes or mucous membranes
flush area with running water for 15 minutes
After cleaning blood exposure
report to supervisor and refer to a MSDS or SDS for further guidance for handling the exposed materials and follow appropriate protocols, and fill out and exposure report
Dilution 1:10
strong dilution; body fluids need to disinfect with a 1:10 ratio
Dilution 1:100
weak dilution; not used to disinfect body fluids, often used for surface cleaning or other general purposes.
