Psychotropic
Referring to medications that alter or change the way the brain works.
Adherence
The extent to which patients follow their prescribed medication regimen.
Antipsychotic Drugs
Medications prescribed most often for schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders, helping to control hallucinations and delusions.
Mood Stabilizers
Medications that reduce the intensity of mood swings and control symptoms of mania.
Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
A treatment that uses electrical stimulation to relieve severe depression, effective in 80-90% of cases.
Withdrawal Symptoms
Signs that occur as a result of stopping or reducing intake of a substance, which may include neurologic symptoms and GI symptoms.
Antidepressants
Medications that alter levels of neurotransmitters, with special warnings for those under 25 due to increased suicide risk.
Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS)
A somatic therapy used for treating mental disorders by stimulating the vagus nerve.

An herbal remedy that has been traditionally used to reduce anxiety.

The process of clearing a substance from the body, typically under medical supervision.
