Physical Fitness
The ability to perform daily tasks effectively without undue fatigue.
Health-Related Fitness
A group of fitness components related to health and daily functioning, including cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.
Cardiovascular Endurance
The heart and lungs work efficiently during sustained activity (e.g., jogging or running).
Muscular Strength
The ability to lift or exert force (e.g., weightlifting, push-ups).
Muscular Endurance
The ability of muscles to work over time (e.g., sit-ups, planks, bodyweight squats).
Flexibility
Range of motion in the joints (e.g., static stretching, yoga).
Body Composition
The ratio of fat to lean mass in the body; influenced by healthy eating and regular exercise.
Skill-Related Fitness
A group of fitness components related to performance in sports-specific activities, including agility, balance, coordination, power, speed, and reaction time.
Agility
The ability to make quick changes in direction (e.g., cone drills, badminton).
Balance
The ability to maintain a position, whether static or moving (e.g., one-leg stand, balance beam).
Coordination
Using senses and body parts together to perform precise movements (e.g., juggling, dribbling, jump rope).
Power
The combination of strength and speed (strength + speed).
Speed
The ability to move quickly (e.g., 100m sprint).
Reaction Time
The ability to respond quickly to a stimulus (e.g., catching a dropped ruler).
