VOLLEYBALL
the game was created by William G. Morgan in 1895, an athletic director at the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in Holyoke, Massachusetts, United States.

Volleyball Equipment and Court
A volleyball had variety of colors but white was greatly favored worldwide. But, after more than a century from the day it was invented, the widely accepted color now is blue and yellow.
The standard volleyball court is 18 x 9 meters. The net, 1 meter wide, is suspended in the middle and across the court, 2.43 meters high for men and 2.24 meters high for women, splitting it to two sides.
Volleyball Skills
The service is the first opportunity for a player to score a point and it is determined by a toss coin.
The "dig" is used to receive and pass the ball with control using the forearms.
The "set" is an overhead pass used to toss and put the ball in the right position for the attacker or spiker.
The "spike" is a forceful hitting or smashing of the ball across the net which serves to be the most effective way for a team to score a point during a rally.
A block is a defensive act of preventing the ball coming from an attack of the offensive team from crossing the net.

SKILLS OF BASKETBALL
Dribbling - Using the finger pads and a pushing motion to move the ball from one place to another keeping it under control. Allows you to move around the playing area.
Passing - Giving the ball to a teammate by throwing it to their chest, overhead, or bouncing.
Shooting - Throwing the basketball up towards the basket/goal for the purpose of scoring points; 1 point for free throws, 2 points for floor shots and 3 points for shots beyond the 3 point line.
Field Goal - A basket scored on any shot other than a free throw, worth 2 or 3 points depending on the distance of the attempt from the basket.
Lay-up - A type of shot, where the player dribbles to the basket and without stopping shoots the ball (right/left/hop/shoot).
Free Throw - A free shot taken from the free throw line after a foul; worth 1 point if made.
Catching - Receiving a passed or thrown ball without letting it hit the floor.

Terms Used in Basketball
Offense - The team that has the ball; a player or team responsible for scoring in a game
Defense/Guarding - The team that does not have the ball; the process used by a team to prevent an opponent from scoring also called “guarding”.
Pivoting - To hold onto the ball and move around legally by keeping one foot in the same spot
Double Dribble - A violation of dribbling the ball with two hands, or stopping and restarting the dribble.
Traveling - A violation of moving with the ball without dribbling.
Foul - A violation resulting from illegal contact.

The team that has the ball; a player or team responsible for scoring in a game

SKILLS FOR BADMINTON

Smash - overhead shot, hit directly down into the opposition’s court.
Clear - a stroke which sends the shuttle high over the opponents head and drops near the backcourt.
