Catalysts produced by living things
What is a catalyst?
Something that increases a chemical reaction without being consumed
What does raising temperature do to a reaction?
Speeds it up
What is an active site?
The part of the enzyme that joins to the substrate to catalyse the reaction
What is the lock and key mechanism?
The substrates shape has to match the shape of the active site or the reaction will not be catalysed
