What happens in the leptotene stage?
Chromosomes condense and meiotic spindles form microtubules that will start to extend out from centrosomes
What happens in the zygotene phase?
Nuclear envelope beings to dissolve and homologous chromosomes will pair up creating the protein bridge
What happens in the pachytene phase?
tetrads are formed from the homologous chromosomes pairing up and recombination nodules can be seen
What happens in the diplotene phase?
synaptonemal complex dissolved and the homologous chrom will get pulled apart revealing the chiasmata where crossing over has occurred
