1st Amendment

Freedom of speech. press, religion, petition, assembly

2nd Amendment

Right for the People to bear arms

3rd Amendment

Government cannot force you to quarter troops during times of peace

4th Amendment

Freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures, warrant based on probable cause

5th Amendment

(1) No Self-Incrimination (Miranda)(2) No Double Jeopardy (defendant cannot be tried again on the same, or similar charges)(3) No deprivation of life liberty or property without "due process of law" (fair treatment)

6th Amendment

Right to speedy and fair trial; Must inform defendant of charge/s; Right to Attorney; Right to fair impartial jury; right to cross examine witnesses against you, right to compel witnesses on your behalf.

7th Amendment

Right to a trial by jury in civil cases

8th Amendment

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

9th Amendment

Unenumerated Rights Amendment. Rights in addition to those stated in the Constitution. . Not everything can be written down.

10th Amendment

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

13th Amendment

Slavery and Involuntary Servitude Prohibited

14th Amendment

(1) All persons born in the U.S. are citizens; (2) no person can be deprived of life, liberty or property without DUE PROCESS OF LAW; (3) no state can deprive a person of EQUAL PROTECTION of the laws. Second of three "Reconstruction Amendments" passed after Civil War.

15th Amendment

Citizens cannot be denied the right to vote because of race, color , or previous condition of servitude

17th Amendment

Election of United States Senators by the PEOPLE of the states

19th Amendment

States cannot deny the right to vote based on sex/gender

24th Amendment

States cannot require poll taxes in order to vote

26th Amendment

States cannot set the voting age higher than 18
