Cloud Computing
A model enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources.
On-Demand Self-Service
Users can unilaterally provision computing capabilities as needed without requiring human interaction with each service's provider.
Broad Network Access
Cloud services are available over the network and accessed through standard mechanisms that promote use across various platforms.
Resource Pooling
The provider's computing resources are pooled to serve multiple consumers using a multi-tenant model.
Rapid Elasticity
Resources can be provisioned and released quickly to scale elastically according to demand.
Measured Service
Cloud systems automatically control and optimize resource use by leveraging a metering capability.
Public Cloud
Cloud services owned and operated by third-party providers, shared among multiple users over the Internet.
Private Cloud
Cloud infrastructure dedicated to a single organization, providing greater control and security.
Hybrid Cloud
A mix of public and private cloud components that allows data transfer between the two.
SaaS (Software as a Service)
Provision of software capabilities over the Internet without the need for local installation.
PaaS (Platform as a Service)
Service providing a platform allowing customers to develop, run, and manage applications without the complexity of building and maintaining infrastructure.
IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service)
Service providing virtualized computing resources over the Internet.
Troubleshooting Methodology
A systematic approach to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues in cloud services.
Multi-Cloud
Utilizing cloud services from multiple cloud providers simultaneously.
Community Cloud
A cloud environment shared among several organizations with shared concerns or interests.
Cloud Within a Cloud
A strategy of migrating virtualization environments onto public cloud platforms.
Security Issues
Concerns related to unauthorized access and data breaches in cloud services.

A configuration that allows an application to run in a private cloud and burst into a public cloud when demand for computing capacity spikes.\n\n
Vertical Scaling (Scaling Up)\n\n
The process of adding more power, such as CPU or RAM, to an existing server or resource.\n\n
Horizontal Scaling (Scaling Out)\n\n
The process of adding more instances or nodes to a system, such as adding more servers to a web cluster, to distribute the load.\n\n
Virtualization\n\n
The technology that masks server resources from users, allowing multiple operating systems to run on a single physical host simultaneously.\n\n
Hypervisor\n\n
Software or hardware that creates and runs virtual machines by isolating the operating system and resources from the physical hardware.\n\n
Serverless Computing\n\n
A cloud-native execution model where the provider manages the server infrastructure, automatically allocating resources based on code execution trigger.\n\n
CapEx (Capital Expenditure)\n\n
Upfront investments in physical infrastructure and hardware that are depreciated over time.\n\n
OpEx (Operational Expenditure)\n\n
Ongoing costs for operating a business, such as cloud subscriptions, where users pay only for what they consume.\n\n
SLA (Service Level Agreement)\n\n
A formal contract between a cloud provider and a customer that specifies minimum service levels, such as percentage of uptime.\n\n
