Titration
A technique used to determine the concentration of a solution by reacting it with a solution of known concentration.
NaOH
Sodium Hydroxide, a strong base whose concentration is being determined in this experiment.
HCl
Hydrochloric acid, a strong acid used as the titrant in this experiment with a concentration of 0.10 mol/L.
Buret
A piece of lab equipment used to accurately dispense variable amounts of a liquid.
Erlenmeyer flask
A flask with a conical base and cylindrical neck used to mix or store solutions. Used during titration to hold the analyte.
Phenolphthalein
A pH indicator that turns colorless in acidic solutions and pink in basic solutions; used to determine the endpoint of the titration.
Endpoint
The point in a titration where the indicator changes color, signaling that the reaction is complete.
Molarity (mol/L)
A unit of concentration, defined as the number of moles of solute per liter of solution.
m/V%
Mass/Volume percentage; expresses the concentration of a solution as the mass of solute per 100 mL of solution.
