Test For Iodide Anions
Add dilute nitric acid, followed by aqueous silver nitrate.
If Iodide anions are present, yellow ppt is formed (silver iodide)
Test For Nitrate Anion
Warm a mixture of aqueous NaOH & a piece of aluminium foil.
If nitrate anions are present, effervescence if observed (gas: ammonia, turns damp red litmus paper blue)
Test For Sulfate Anion
Add dilute nitric acid, followed by aqueous barium nitrate.
If sulfate anions are present, a white ppt is formed (barium sulfate)
Test For Chloride Anions
Add dilute nitric acid, followed by aqueous silver nitrate.
If white pp (silver chloride) t is formed, Chloride Anions are present.
Test For Carbonate Anions
Add dilute acid.
If effervescence is observed , a colourless, odourless gas that forms a white ppt in limewater is formed (CO2 gas)
