-nomothetic superficial -: fixed crtieria do not give a complete picture of the individual e.g. two ppl with depression have different experiences

-idiographic data is rich, detailed data +: argued to be a more valid perspective on human behaviour.

-idiographic time-consuming -: due to the depth the research can be time consuming.
