Patient identification
Name, date of birth and first line of address
Area of interest included
Ensuring images are of diagnostic quality
Anatomical markers and legends
The annotation should include right or left, mobile, patient position (erect, supine or prone) and the FDD in cm
Correct projection/positioning
Asses if the patient is positioned correctly and the X Ray is in the correct position
Exposure factors
Evaluate if the exposure factors were appropriate for the patient’s size and the body part being imaged
Image Brightness and contrast
Determine if the images’s density and contrast allow for proper visualization of structures
Definition
Check for movement or motion unsharpness, which can obscure details
Collimation
Ensure the X ray beam is properly restricted to the area of interest
Artefacts and gross errors
Identify any artefacts that obscure the image or render it non diagnostic
Pathology
Look for any pathology or normal anatomical variations, determine if a repeat view is needed.
