Chloroplast
Function: Use sunlight to make food (photosynthesis).
Found in: Plant 🌿 cells only.
1.
Cell Membrane (Plasma Membrane)
Function: Controls what enters and leaves the cell; provides protection and structure.
Found in: Both plant 🌿 and animal 🐾 cells.
Cytoplasm
Function: Jelly-like fluid that fills the cell and holds all organelles in place.
Found in: Both.
nucleas
Function: The “control center” — contains DNA and controls all cell activities.
Found in: Both.
Nuclear Membrane (Envelope)
Function: Surrounds and protects the nucleus; lets certain materials in and out.
Found in: Both.
Nucleolus
Function: Makes ribosomes (which make proteins).
Found in: Both.
Ribsomes
Ribosomes
Function: Make proteins. Can be free in cytoplasm or attached to the rough ER.
Found in: Both
7.
Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER)
Two types:
Rough ER: Has ribosomes; makes and transports proteins.
Smooth ER: No ribosomes; makes lipids (fats) and removes toxins.
Found in: Both.
Golgi Apparatus (Golgi body)
Function: Sorts, packages, and ships proteins and other materials around or out of the cell.
Found in: Both.
Mitochondria
Function: The “powerhouse” — makes energy (ATP) from food.
Found in: Both.
10.
Lysosomes
Function: Break down old cell parts and waste (“clean-up crew”).
Found in: Mainly animal 🐾 cells (rare in plant 🌿).
Vacuole
Function: Stores water, nutrients, and waste.
Plant cell: One large central vacuole for water storage and pressure. 🌿
Animal cell: Several small vacuoles. 🐾
Centrioles
Function: Help with cell division (mitosis).
Found in: Animal 🐾 cells only.
Cell wall
Function: Provides extra support, shape, and protection outside the cell membrane.
Found in: Plant 🌿 cells only.
Cytoskeleton
Function: Gives shape and structure; helps move things inside the cell.
Found in: Both.
