The Grand Alliance was a coalition formed during World War II, primarily consisting of the United States, the Soviet Union, and the United Kingdom, united in the fight against the Axis powers.

When was the grand alliance formed ?

It was formed in 1941 after USA joined ww2 but was officially signed by the US, soviet union and Britain on new years day 1942. It lasted until 1945

Who were the axis power they wanted to defeat ?

Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and Imperial Japan

What was a major issue for the alliance?

They had largely opposing ideologies.

What issue did Stalin have with the US

He believed that the US delayed opening a second front in France so the USSR would be weakened when fighting Nazi Germany

Why was there tension (due to secrecy) ?

• stalin refused to share battle plans

• When German troops surrendered in Italy Britain and the US refused to include the USSR in discussions

How did the powers cooperate ?

• British ships took supplies to the USSR

• The USSR was included in America’s lend lease programme where they lent weapons to help defeat Germany
