Message
The idea being transmitted by the sender to the receiver; it includes three aspects — content, structure, and style.
Sender (Source)
The originator of the message.
Receiver
The recipient of the message.
Encoding
The process of converting the message into words, actions or other forms that the speaker understands.
Decoding
The process of interpreting the encoded message of the speaker by the receiver.
Channel
The medium or means used to convey the encoded message (personal or non-personal, verbal or nonverbal).
Noise
Barriers to communication that block the transmission or understanding of the message.
Feedback
The reactions, responses, or information provided by the receiver.
Communication
A process of sharing and conveying messages or information from one person to another across channels, contexts, media, and cultures.
Speaker
The source of information or message.
Content
The information, ideas, or thoughts conveyed by the speaker in words or in actions.
Structure
The organization or arrangement of the content in a message.
Style
The manner of expression used in a message.
Medium
The means of transmission used to convey the message (e.g., verbal, nonverbal).
Oral Communication
Communication through spoken words.
Nature of Communication
It occurs between two or more people, is a process, and can be expressed through written or spoken words, actions, or both.
Elements of Communication
The seven components: Speaker/Source, Message, Encoding, Channel, Decoding, Receiver, and Feedback.
Functions of Communication
The five main functions: Control, Social Interaction, Motivation, Emotional Expression, Information Dissemination.
