It’s purpose was to assist the freedmen with medical care, education, and etc.

Sharecropping

Landowners paying crops to the workers.

An Annual labor contract that allows corporal punishment.

Johnson’s Vetoes

Both Freedmen’s Bureau Bill and Civil Rights Bill were vetoed by Johnson. Congress overrides the vetoes.

Makes Blacks citizen of the United State.

Carpetbaggers

The northerners, which the habit of northerners who came south carrying their belongings in a bag made from a piece of carpet.

Scalawags

The southerners, which is an Irish term meaning “scoundrels.”

Ku Klux Klan

A terrorist/hate group that was formed in Tennessee to attack the Freedmen.

The 15th Amendment

Guaranteed African American men the right to vote.

The Enforcement Act of 1870

Prohibited individuals from assembling or disguising themselves with intentions to violate African Americans’ constitutional rights.

Ku Klux Klan Act

Outlawed terrorist conspiracies by all racist vigilantes including but not limited to the Ku Klux Klan.

Established by the Freedmen and many Blacks deposited money into it. Bad investments by the bank caused its Black patrons to lose money.
