Corporate culture/organizational culture
Personality of an organization through a system of shared meaning
Edgar Schein 3 levels of culture
Artifacts: what is seen/noticed visibly
Values: What the organization says about it’s values
Basic assumption: what is learned within the culture/isn’t visibly shown
Values alignment
In order for a business to be successful, it must align it’s values (not just state them, but also act on them)
Aspoused values
Values a business states (mission statement)
Example of a “norm”
A learned behavior based off of an expectation in the culture like in college, learning that people will throw laundry on the ground if you don’t make it to the timer on time
Example of “Assumptions”
A deeper understanding that influences the norm. Exp: UNH being sustainable
Computing values framework (4 parts)
Organizations placed into typologies:
Hierarchy (rules, procedures, control)
Clan (work together, collaborate)
Adhocracy (Creativity, high risk, one of a kind)
Market (Compete, quick results)
