Napoleon's early history

Napoleon was born on the island of Corsica. His parents were Italian nobles, was enrolled in a French military school. He earned respect from his peers through hard work. He was victorious in many battles through the French Revolution.

Napoleon's popularity

The people liked him because he kept winning battles in the midst of chaos, he gave them hope.

The Directory

Ruling force over France after the Revolution.

Overthrowing a government (Napoleon overthrew the Directory to gain power)

Ways Napoleon restored order

-Divorced his first wife and married an Austrian which ended the war between France and Austria.
-He gained more land, building the largest empire since Rome.
-He set up a fair tax system
-Created public schools
-Restored the RCC
-Made people hire based on merrit.
-Payed off debt (through many things, including the Louisiana purchase)

Napoleon despite being allies with Russia decides to invade them. Napoleon wanted Poland and felt Russia was going to take it. (Wanted all of Europe for himself).

Napoleon's last stand where he lost and was then exiled afterwards.

Most countries went back to Monarchies, and the power was equally shared.

Napoleon lived on Elba until he eventually died of Stomach Cancer.
