The trinity in the Old testament

* In Genesis we are told the “spirit hovered over the waters”
* ^^In Genesis three angelic visitors visited Abraham reperesenting the trinity^^

* In the Gospels Jesus affirmed ^^that there was only one God but he also spoke of the three God heads .^^
* This is ^^authoratitive as the Bible is the word of God.^^
* Jesus final words in ^^Matthew are to make disciples baptising them in the name of the father son and Holy Spirit.^^

The Significance of God as a trinity of persons

* God the ^^father^^ helps Catholics understand ^^Gods power and creativity and its care for the world and his people.^^
* God the ^^son^^ helps Catholics understand the ^^love of God , the sacrifice of his only son leading to salvation from sin and the promise of eternal life.^^
* God the ^^Holy Spirit^^ helps Catholics understand the ^^presence of God in the world and the strength it brings to catholics.^^

The Historical development of the Doctorine of the trinity

* The earliest christinas were ^^Jews who believed he was the Messiah.^^
* The ^^Holy Spirit came at pentecost as the apostles felt the holy spirit when they prayed.^^
* The First ^^council of Nicaea proved that Jesus was divine.^^
* First ^^council of constantinople^^ proved that ^^The son the father and the holy spirit were all God but all seperate.^^

The Bible proves the trinity of persons

* Monotheism is present throughout the whole Bible in the Old testament and in the New Testament whereas the Bible only depicts the trinity once together in Matthews Gospel.
* The Bible clearly doesnt prove the trinity well enough as there had to be councils held to argue the trinity of persons.
