What is current?

The rate of flow of charge carriers within a circuit.

What is charge?

A physical property of any item, measuring the amount of current it can pass through it per second

The energy per unit charge utilised in the circuit.

Lost Volts?

The presence of internal resistance leads to a loss of energy per unit charge, known as the lost volts.

What causes internal resistance?

The movement of electrons through the material of the battery, which leads to collisions and therefore energy loss.

How is total resistance calculated in a series circuit?

R_total = R₁ + R₂ + R₃

How is total resistance calculated in a parallel circuit?

R_total = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + 1/R₃
