Linking verb

Helping (auxiliary) verb
With a main verb form a verb phrase
Regular verbs
Most verbs are regular verbs; add d or ed for past tense; add ing for present tense
Irregular verbs
Doesn’t form their past participles by adding d or ed; doesn’t follow a consistent pattern
Transitive verbs
A action verb that is followed by a noun or pronoun that receives the action; has a direct object
Intransitive verbs
Doesn’t have a direct object
Direct object
Noun or pronoun that receives the action of the verb
Indirect object
Is a thing or person to whom something is being given, taught, or told; can be a noun or pronoun and it comes before the direct object
