Classical Conditioning
A behaviorist approach to learning involving the association between a neutral stimulus and an unconditioned stimulus to create a conditioned response through a three-phase process.
Before Conditioning
The phase where a neutral stimulus (NS) elicits no response, while an unconditioned stimulus (UCS) leads to an unconditioned response (UCR).
During Conditioning
The phase where the neutral stimulus (NS) is paired with the unconditioned stimulus (UCS) to evoke the unconditioned response (UCR).
After Conditioning
The phase where the neutral stimulus becomes a conditioned stimulus (CS) that triggers the conditioned response (CR).
Conditioned Emotional Response
An emotional reaction to a stimulus that typically does not elicit such a response.
