Contact Information, Resume Objectives, Work Experience, Skills, Education.
What information belongs in the Contact Information section?
Your name, best phone number (cell), professional email, city and province, and links to LinkedIn/profile/portfolio.
What should a Resume Objective include?
Two-to-three sentences describing goals, focus on overall skills, and what you bring to the job; structure example: [Your profession] + [education/experience and top skills] seeking [desired job] to [goals] with [skills].
What should the Work Experience section contain?
Your previous job titles in reverse-chronological order, employer, city and province, start/end dates, and a brief list of accomplishments and responsibilities.
How should the Skills section be organized?
Six to eight bullet points including a mix of hard, soft, and technical skills; clearly labeled subsections for hard, soft, and technical skills.
What are 'hard skills' and give some examples from the notes.
Hard skills are specialized knowledge gained through education or training and vary by job. Examples: Copywriting, Graphic design, Artificial intelligence, Project management, Cloud computing, SEO, Data analysis, Computer programming, UX design, Foreign languages.
What are 'soft skills' and give examples from the notes.
Soft skills are personal abilities that help you work effectively with others. Examples: Adaptability, Active listening, Time management, Leadership, Empathy, Collaboration.
What are 'technical skills' and give examples from the notes.
Technical skills are a subset of hard skills involving the use of digital tools and technology. Examples: Adobe tools, Programming languages (Java, Python), Google Analytics, Microsoft Excel, Mailchimp, Project management tools, Microsoft Teams, POS systems, QuickBooks, CAD software.
What additional resume sections can you include beyond the five main sections?
Certifications/licenses, Honors and awards, Projects, Publications.

Inside Address includes the name, title, organization, and mailing address; Salutation begins with Dear followed by the reader's title and last name and ends with a colon.
