Combinational Logic
A logic circuit that performs a Boolean function, typically with multiple inputs and a single output.
NMOS Transistor
A transistor that operates as a switch controlled by a gate signal, which closes when the control input is high.
PMOS Transistor
A transistor that operates as a switch controlled by a gate signal, which closes when the control input is low.
Pull-Up Network (PUN)
A network of PMOS transistors that connects the output to VDD, turning 'on' when the output needs to be '1'.
Pull-Down Network (PDN)
A network of NMOS transistors that connects the output to ground, turning 'on' when the output needs to be '0'.
CMOS Transmission Gate
A bidirectional switch composed of one NMOS and one PMOS transistor connected in parallel.
Truth Table
A table that shows the output of a logic gate for all possible input combinations.
DeMorgan's Theorem
A theorem describing how the negation of a conjunction is equivalent to the disjunction of the negations and vice versa.
Sizing in VLSI Design
The process of adjusting the dimensions of transistors to ensure equal rise and fall times in digital circuits.
Ripple Carry Adder (RCA)
A circuit designed by cascading full adders that produce sum bits and carry outputs, with speed limited by carry propagation delay.
