Earth's Rotation

The spinning of the earth on its axis from east to west.

Earth's Revolution

The movement of the earth around the sun in a complete circular form (orbit).

Orbit

The path Earth takes during its revolution around the sun.

Day and Night

Caused by the rotation of the earth as different parts face the sun.

Meridians/Longitudes

A difference of 1 hour between two meridians or longitudes 15° apart is caused by the Earth's rotation.

Tilting of Earth

The earth's axis is tilted at an angle of 23½º.

Summer Solstice

In northern hemisphere, it is on 21st June, when the sun shines on the earth's surface, the side facing or tilted towards the sun will be in light

Winter Solstice

In northern hemisphere, it is on 21st December, when the side facing or tilted away from the sun will be in darkness.
