1st Amendment

the right to freedom of speech, press, religion, petition, and assembly

2nd Amendment

the right to bear arms

3rd Amendment

right not to be forced to quarter soldiers during times of peace

4th Amendment

no reasonable searches & seizures, no warrants without probable cause

5th Amendment

right not to incriminate yourself, protection against double jeopardy, government can’t take away life, liberty, or property without due process

6th Amendment

right to a speedy and public trial by impartial jury in criminal cases, right to attorney, right to be informed of the charges; right to confront your accusers/witnesses

8th Amendment

no cruel and unusual punishment

9th Amendment

rights listed in the Constitution are not the only ones we have

10th Amendment

all powers not given to the national government in the constitution belong to the states

13th Amendment

abolished slavery

14th Amendment

granted citizenship & protection of all the laws to all born in the US, including African Americans

15th Amendment

gave African Americans the right to vote

19th Amendment

gave women the right to vote

24th Amendment

outlawed poll taxes

26th Amendment

gave those 18 and older the right to vote
