Four C Model of Mental Toughness
A framework defining Control, Commitment, Challenge, and Confidence as essential components of mental toughness in athletes.
Psychological Skills Training (PST)
A systematic practice of mental skills to enhance performance, enjoyment, and self-satisfaction throughout an athlete's career.
Arousal vs. Anxiety
Arousal is a positive activation contributing to performance, while anxiety refers to negative feelings such as self-doubt and worry.
Drive Theory
A theory suggesting that higher arousal leads to better performance when the skills are well-learned.
Inverted-U Hypothesis
A theory stating that moderate levels of arousal are optimal for performance, while too little or too much arousal impairs it.
IZOF (Individual Zone of Optimal Functioning)
A theory indicating that each athlete has a unique optimal level of arousal for peak performance.
PETLEP Model
An imagery model including Physical, Environment, Task, Timing, Learning, Emotion, and Perspective aspects for enhancing sport performance.
Sources of Sport Confidence
Nine sources including mastery, demonstration of ability, vicarious experience, and social support that contribute to an athlete's confidence.
Self-Efficacy
