What is a collective security treaty organization?

Organization of American States (OAS)
Founded in 1948, the OAS is a regional organization of 35 independent states in the Americas, including North, South, and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. While it primarily focuses on political, economic, and social cooperation, the OAS also has provisions for collective security through mechanisms such as the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Assistance (Rio Treaty), which obligates member states to come to each other's defense in case of an attack.
